Research
Accessibility Researcher
Own the mapping from what Tallyn finds to WCAG, and to the people each barrier actually affects.
- Location
- Seattle, WA or remote in the US
- Type
- Full time
- Compensation
- $150,000 to $185,000 plus 0.3% to 0.7% equity
The difference between a checker and Tallyn is judgement: whether an alt should be empty, whether a control is really a keyboard trap, which finding blocks someone and which is noise. That judgement is your work.
You would own the standard against which the model is measured, and the language the product uses to name who each issue affects.
What you would own
- Maintain the corpus of real barriers and their correct fixes that the pipeline is evaluated on.
- Write the who-it-affects language so an issue is a named consequence for a real person, never a bare rule id.
- Test with screen readers and keyboards, and encode what only manual testing can catch.
- Keep Tallyn honest about the line between an aid and a legal certification.
What we are looking for
- You hold an accessibility certification, or equivalent depth from practice.
- You have run audits and know where automated tools stop being enough.
- You can write plainly for developers who are not accessibility experts.
How hiring runs
A thirty-minute call with a founder, then a paid work session on a real accessibility problem from our backlog, three to four hours, then conversations with two people you would work with. Four steps, usually inside two weeks, and we tell you where you stand at every one.
